About the Founder, Fred R. Rippy

FredRippy-4As a boy, Fred picked cotton for his father in Texas and sold papers on the streets of Tulsa. As a teenager, Fred apprenticed himself to a commercial artist to wash brushes and eventually did theater marquee lettering and painting. He also worked in his father’s meat market and managed a gas station. During World War II he worked for A.O. Smith and Vultee where he worked in various departments learning everything possible. Fred always felt very strongly about the importance of giving the full measure of work and time for which he was paid. Before leaving his employment at Vultee, Fred borrowed $700 from his father to purchase a mill and lathe to set up a machine shop in his garage.

In the early 60’s, Fred’s business expanded and he purchased his first building in Whittier, California. In order to meet customer demands, the shop became specialized in making electric motor laminations and moved to the present location of Fred R. Rippy, Inc.

Our Experience allows us to successfully combine Craftsmanship, Technology, and Automation to provide products of superior quality in response to your needs.
